Commercial vehicle accident claims life of pedestrian

Tractor-trailers travel on interstate highways, busy streets in towns and small local roads. As a result, a commercial vehicle accident could happen on any of these roadways. In some cases, the accidents do not involve multiple vehicles but could involve pedestrians.

It was recently reported that a fatal accident took place in Louisiana involving a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian. Reports stated that the driver of the 18-wheeler was attempting to make a turn when the truck hit a pedestrian. The incident did take place at an intersection, but it was unclear whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time. No exact details on how the accident occurred were provided for the report.

Unfortunately, the incident resulted in the pedestrian suffering fatal injuries, and that individual was declared dead at the accident site. The person’s name and age were not given as details involved with the investigation had not yet been completed. Because the investigation was still underway at the time of the report, additional information may become available at a later time.

The family of this Louisiana victim may never have anticipated that a commercial vehicle accident would claim the life of their loved one, especially while that person was on foot. Of course, pedestrian accidents happen every day, and the outcomes are often tragic. If the family feels it could be right for them, they may want to consider filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault. A successful civil claim could allow them to obtain compensation for damages resulting from the incident.
