Families and loved ones rely on each other for many aspects of their lives. As a result, when individuals lose loved ones in car accidents or other unexpected events, the hardships that result can seem insurmountable. As they try to contend with these difficulties, they may find it useful to consider their legal options.

One family in Louisiana may be considering filing wrongful death claims after a recent crash. Reports stated that a 27-year-old woman was driving a vehicle east when a pickup truck rear-ended her vehicle. Details on what happened in the immediate aftermath of that initial collision were not given in the report. It appeared that the woman and her 7-year-old son were in the vehicle as well as a male passenger and his 3-year-old son.

The incident resulted in the woman, who was pregnant with twins, and her son suffering fatal injuries. The passenger and other child were also injured and taken from the scene to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup did not suffer any injuries in the incident, and authorities do not suspect that impairment played a role in the crash.

The family of the woman and child killed in this crash are undoubtedly devastated by the outcome. They may never have dreamed that something like this could happen, but of course, car accidents can affect anyone. The family and the surviving injured parties may have reason to file legal claims against the driver considered at fault in order to seek compensation for damages permitted under Louisiana law.
