TBIs are often considered catastrophic injuries

Though car accidents happen every day in Louisiana and across the country, they are anything but mundane. People’s lives can be changed forever after a crash because of catastrophic injuries. In particular, a person involved in a car accident could suffer a traumatic brain injury that leaves him or her facing many hardships.

Traumatic brain injuries are not just caused by car accidents, and they can happen whenever a person suffers a blow to the head or a penetrating head injury. Unfortunately, these injuries can result in victims having cognitive problems, experiencing mood swings, suffering from headaches and nausea, and a number of other issues that could affect their daily lives. In some cases, the immediate effects of an injury may lessen or go away with time, but others could be long-lasting or permanent.

There are treatments for TBIs, but even with rehabilitation and other medical efforts, some effects of the injury may affect a person for the rest of his or her life. Obviously, this means that a person could have to find new ways to live and cope with the results of the injury. Unfortunately, these outcomes can affect not only the injured party but also his or her family.

If Louisiana residents have suffered a traumatic brain injury or other catastrophic injuries from a car accident, they may wonder where their lives will go. If another person is considered at fault for the injury-causing accident, it may be worthwhile for the victim to consider filing a personal injury claim. A successful claim could allow for monetary compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, lost income, and other damages.
