Seeing tractor-trailers and other large trucks on the road is likely not an unusual occurrence for most drivers. They may do their best to stay out of truck drivers’ blind spots and simply go on their way. Of course, many commercial vehicle accidents do happen, and the outcomes are often harrowing.

It was recently reported that an accident in Louisiana involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle proved fatal. Details regarding how the accident took place were few, but the report did state that the truck driver was attempting to make a right turn when a southbound vehicle collided with the side of the truck. The incident occurred around 7 a.m., and the two vehicles were the only ones involved.

The collision resulted in the driver of the passenger vehicle suffering fatal injuries. She was reported as being 36 years old. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not suffer any injuries in the incident. An investigation into the crash was still underway at the time of the report. It was not mentioned whether any charges could result, but toxicology reports were pending.

If the driver of the tractor-trailer is considered at fault for this Louisiana incident, the family of the woman killed may have reason to take legal action. It is common for wrongful death claims to result from fatal commercial vehicle accidents, and the family may be able to pursue compensation for funeral expenses, final medical bills, lost income and more. It may be to their benefit to gain information on possibly following this course of action.
