Though most people are on the road at least one day a week, there is no guarantee that they will always make it to their destinations. Car accidents happen on a regular basis, and unfortunately, far too many of them prove fatal. In fact, drunk drivers contribute to a number of those fatal incidents.
It was recently reported that a fatal crash in Louisiana involved alcohol. Apparently, a 30-year-old man was driving in the center lane of Interstate 10 when his vehicle collided with the rear of another car. The car that was hit then struck a third vehicle that was in front of it. The incident took place around 3:50 a.m. It was unclear exactly how many people were involved.
The first vehicle that was hit was carrying a 25-year-old passenger and a male driver. The passenger suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident, and the driver was considered to be in critical condition. It was not mentioned whether any other injuries resulted. Authorities took the driver that hit that vehicle for alcohol testing and found that his blood alcohol concentration level was 0.11%. He was still in custody at the time of the report.
Car accidents caused by drunk drivers can always be prevented if individuals choose not to drink and drive. Of course, that was not what happened in this Louisiana incident, and a life was lost as a result. Because of that outcome, the family of the deceased victim may have reason to take legal action against the driver considered at fault by filing a wrongful death claim. Additionally, the surviving injured victim may want to look into personal injury claims. Successful claims could allow them to obtain compensation for allowable damages.
