As many people believe, the holiday season is supposed to be a time of joy. As a result, when car accidents or other serious events take place during this time, it can seem even more tragic, especially if those events result in fatalities. Of course, crashes can happen at any time of the year, and fatalities are unfortunately common.
It was recently reported that a crash in Louisiana claimed the life of one man and caused critical injuries to his wife. Reports stated that a man was driving a motor home when he lost control of the vehicle. He had apparently swerved to avoid striking another vehicle, but instead, the motor home hit the guard wires and caused them to come unanchored. As a result, the motor home crossed the median of the road and struck a pickup truck in the opposite lanes of travel.
The pickup truck left the roadway and ended up in the woods. The incident resulted in the driver of the pickup suffering fatal injuries. The driver’s wife was flown from the scene to an area hospital, and she was considered to be in critical condition. The driver of the motor home suffered only minor injuries. The crash was still under investigation at the time of the report.
The family of the couple harmed in this Louisiana incident may have a difficult time coming to grips with the fact that a death in the family and the critical injuries of another loved one took place. Their holiday season may be less joyous than they anticipated, and they may wonder how they will get through. Like others who have lost loved ones in car accidents, this surviving family may have reason to take civil legal action against the driver considered at fault in efforts to seek compensation for resulting hardships.
