Car accidents: Children injured after being struck by car

People of all ages can be out on foot. In many cases, they may need to cross streets in order to get to their destinations, which can pose a hazard as drivers do not always pay close attention or watch for pedestrians. Unfortunately, car accidents involving pedestrians often lead to serious injuries to those who are hit.

It was recently reported that an incident in Louisiana resulted in the injuries of two children. The children were crossing a street at approximately 5:30 p.m. when they were hit by a vehicle. The children were reported as being a 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. After the initial collision, the girl was struck by a second vehicle. They were both taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The driver who hit both the children was detained and then arrested by officers after it was determined that he was driving on a suspended license. He is also facing charges for not having proof of insurance and other vehicle-related offenses. It was not mentioned whether he would face any specific charges in relation to striking the children.

The parents of the children who were injured in this incident are undoubtedly grateful that they survived. Still, the children may face a long road to recovery, and it is possible that they will suffer the traumatic effects of the incident for some time. Like many car accidents, this Louisiana incident may present reason for the parents to seek compensation from the driver considered at fault for damages resulting from the collision. Filing a personal injury claim on behalf of the children may be warranted.
