Injury-causing car accidents can happen in unexpected ways

It is an unfortunate reality that accidents are a part of life. Even if individuals had no direct intention of hurting someone else, harm could result from their actions if they are negligent or reckless. Car accidents can happen due to a seemingly minor mistake, but the lives of those involved could be changed forever.

It was recently reported that at least one person was injured when a vehicle drove through a Louisiana store. Apparently, the driver of a car had meant to put her vehicle in reverse, but instead, she put it in drive. As a result, when she hit the gas, rather than backing up, her vehicle traveled forward and into a clothing store. It was unclear how many people were inside the store at the time of the incident.

At least one person was hit by the vehicle when it entered the store. The 72-year-old woman was transported from the scene to an area hospital, but the extent of her injuries was not disclosed in the report. The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries in the incident. It was not mentioned whether any criminal charges could result.

It is always the hope that parties injured in car accidents will fully recover, and the same goes for the woman injured in this Louisiana incident. She may have a difficult and long recovery period ahead, and in addition to her medical struggles, she may also face financial hardships as she contends with medical expenses and other costs stemming from the incident. It may be worthwhile for her to consider filing a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault in efforts to seek compensation for damages permitted under state law.
